19th Century Antique Primitive Wooden Carpenters Shaving Horse - Long Work Bench Clamp
Rustic carpenters wood working bench, or Schnitzelbank, likely handmade by the carpenter themselves. This piece is a combination vise and workbench used in green woodworking, or crafting from unseasoned (green) timber. Its most typical utilization is for creating a rounded profile from a square piece for table and chair legs, and bow staves. The pedal on the bottom is connected to the vice and activates a clamp to hold the lumber in to place. This was considered THE item for any laborer to have before the invention of electric machinery. Due to the age of this piece, it is being sold as a display and has not been tested for use.
